First Amendment

The 1st Amendment was ratified in 1791 in the month of December. It contains the first 45 words of the Bill of Rights. The 1st Amendment protects the rights of citizens; freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition are included. This amendment grants citizens the right to freely express themselves in this nation. This amendment states that Congress shall not make laws that interfere with this amendment.
